Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the most famous architects in the Scottsdale area. Since he has passed on, a tall spire designed by Wright himself stands on Scottsdale Road in his memory. At night, this spire is lighted as a brilliant blue arrow to the sky. This is visible from the patio of The Capital Grille in Scottsdale. The building for the Grille is itself inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, so it’s no surprise that one of the valley’s best steakhouses would find it’s home here. Known for it’s architectural uniqueness wherever it finds itself, The Capital Grille is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the stomach.

Dress up and prepare to be treated like a king when you enter these doors. The Capital Grille is warm and inviting with it’s rich browns, reds, and leather chairs. Take a look at the menu and you’re greeted with a wide selection of 300 wines from around the world selected by the Master Sommelier George Miliotes. There are only 180 Master Sommelier’s the world over so it’s an honor for Capital Grille to have one. Watch a few videos featuring Miliotes and you’ll feel at home. Not snobby or pretentious, he puts you at ease with the large selection of wines, shows you how to choose one, and then invites you to be the judge.

Once you’ve chosen a delicious glass of wine, peruse the selection of the finest ingredients, meat, and seafood Scottsdale has to offer. From a shellfish platter to Wagyu beef, your mouth will be watering, and that’s just the appetizers. There is a special listing on the menu of the Chef’s Suggestions. Executive Chef Michael LaDuke has made sure to offer some tasty options like Porcini Rubbed Delmonico and Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass, check the menu for other creative options throughout the year. Then it’s on to the meats and seafood. Sides are big enough to share here, so picking one or two for your party is best. Whatever dish you choose, you can be sure it’s as fresh as possible. The meat is actually dry aged right in the restaurant. When the full cuts of meat reach Capital Grille, the expert chefs and butchers carve the meat, and dry age it in house. The dry aging, which you can learn more about on their website, allows the meat to reach it’s full flavor and tenderness. If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love the dessert options. From a Trio of Handcrafted Ice Cream, to cheesecake, to a Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake, you’re sure to be satisfied. If a full meal isn’t for you, stop by the bar for a classy happy hour and some small plates. The bar at Capital Grille is the perfect place to stop in to relax and converse.

If you need some privacy for a small party or meeting, the Capital Grille is ready to accommodate you. Call ahead to reserve one of their rooms. The Wine Room can hold up to 60 guests in a setting surrounded by the finest bottles of wine in mahogany racks. The outdoor Patio seats 44 comfortably, but can be expanded to 60 guests. Scottsdale’s temperate climate makes this a nice option. The smallest room, seating up to 40, is named after who else but Frank Lloyd Wright. The private room named after the architect is best for business meetings with it’s audio/visual capabilities. If you’d like, you can have a customized menu created just for you for such occasions.
