In the middle of the Kierland Commons sits a quiet little Parisian bistro called Zinc, a Scottsdale French bistro. A quaint 4,000 square foot restaurant, it welcomes you with a warm atmosphere and lighted Eiffel Tower in the center. Sit on the patio in the wicker furniture, and you may think you’ve been transported to Boulevard Saint-Germain. If you’d prefer a more private setting, there is a small secluded garden patio inside the restaurant lit by candles in the evening. Of course, the booths and tables as well as the bar indoors are always a good choice.

This award winning bistro is home to some of the best French cuisine you’ll find anywhere in the valley. Try the oyster bar located at the end of Zinc’s bar. The freshest oysters, clams, mussels, and lobster are brought in daily. Try a little bit of them all with an exquisite fruit de mer platter. If you’re in the mood for something a little warmer, try the Grilled Scottish Salmon, or the Artichoke and Potato Agnolotti with Pistachio Puree. If you’re not looking for fish, Zinc also serves creations like Hudson Valley Duck Breast with Peach and Black Truffle, and Roasted Filet Mignon with Foie Gras. Fromage and Charcuterie plates are always a favorite with cheese and meats to choose from such as chevre, proscuitto, and chorizo. Chef and proprietor Matt Carter is behind all of the dishes. Having actually studied French cuisine in Paris, you can be sure you’re getting authentic tastes. He, along with Terry Ellisor run Zinc.

Make sure to dress up as you enter Zinc for lunch or dinner. A refined happy hour is available at the 25 foot bar. Wine and cocktails are served til close, and don’t forget about a nice crème brulee or souffle for dessert. So visit their website to make a reservation, and prepare to be swept away to Paris in the desert.
